So, back in Montana now. Kinda skipped a lot of stuff on this site. Went from Albania to greece, Macedonia,, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Across Turkey, flew into Jordan, saw petra and stuff, through Isreal, and then to Cairo, where i flew home from. Took the bus from NYC to MT. Now im here.

spent the last three weeks in one of the poorest countries of europe, and learned more than i could have ever imagined about so many things. i have been working very hard on my book here as well, and will be ready with my first draft by the end of august, as long as i keep telling people and make myself accountale that is. Im now ready to move, off to greece, macedonia, kosovo, bulgaria, then east across turkey. Will add to this as i go.

hi, just hanging out in Tirana, pretty amazing place. lots of problems in albania, but the people here are amazing. so friendly, such great people to just hang out and talk to. just working hard on my finals for amsterdam. turning everything in last minute like i always do. playing lots of guitar.

Malta was breathtaking!! Sicily was so relaxing!! So chill!! Napoli and Pompeii were great!! Unbelievable!! The trip to Albania was long, but well worth it!! Im in Durres now! Pretty poor, but the people are great and the language is super fun!! Off to Tirana this afternoon! Then heading to Greece!

Finally got to Sicily, stayed a night in Polermo, and then headed across to the south to Pozzello! Beautiful Places!! Took the ferry to Malta, where i now am!! Wow! Now this is an absolutely incredible Place!! So old! So beautiful!! Surprisingly inexpensive also!! Having a wonderful time as always!!

Rome has been Amazing!! I have had so much fun here with Silvias family and seen so much cool Rome stuff!! I got to got to see some Caravaccio with silvias mom and grandma and all the other touristy stuff! Plus the Peace Rally yesterday was insane!! I looked at the news today and they dont really show any of the peace stuff, just the few people there making trouble. I got to be there for this big fight between the cops with sheilds and teargas. I dont think they shot any, but they tried to stop the croud from going one way and got tough with everyone, so everyone started throwing stuff at them and shooting fireworks at them! The police finally pulled back after failing to scare us away! Police oppression is incredible! It is so interesting that the people own the streets and the police sand around trying to tell them where they can and cant go!
Anyway, safe and sound. Heading to Sardinia today finally! Oh, and the food here has been sooo incredible!! Wow!

What an amazing city this is!! Ive been flying through the streets on the back of a little scooter with Gaicomo and having a blast!! Everything is so big and beautiful here! Italian is such a cool language and the food is amazing!!

San Marino

San Marino was so beautiful!! A little castle city on the top of a small mountain within view of the ocean. The view from atop the walls was breathtaking. The italian countryside is so beautiful!!

Made it to Rome and was wisked through the streets by Giacomo on his little scooter! Now staying at silvias house with her wonderful family!!

Belgrade was great! Took the night bus to Sarajevo! The drive through the bosnian country side was amaying. Sarajevo is a very cozy little city with a really cool city center and super friendly people so far!! Lovin it! Jumping another night bus to Split Croatia!

Transylvania and Yugoslavia

Hi

Headed from Bucharest to Brasov! The romanian countryside is absolutely incredible. Valleys and rivers and lots of trees. The whole place reminded me so much of brazil. I hired a drive to take me to Bran and Rasnov to see the castels and they were incredible. The Bran castle was nice, but the Rasnov castle was amazing. It is now somewhat a ruins, but has a small museum with incredible old drawings of the wars and of they many ways they used to kill people. Old drawings of people being impaled and so many other terrible things. It was pretty cool!! They are starting to milk the Dracula thing, which is actually fun to see too. The countryside outside Brasov is just like you would imagine for vampires and especially warewolves. Took the night train to Belgrade, where i am now. Lots of changes and the border to get here, so i havn`t slept much. Belgrade is beautiful. Spending the day here, then jumping the night bus to Sarajevo! Probably stop on the croatian coast so i can shower. We`ll see!

made it to bucharest this morning!! Dirty little city. Ive only been here a few hours and have already almost been bitten by 3 stray dogs!! This place reminds me of east LA, or puerto villarta, or maybe the favella in brazil. Im gonna catch a train to Transylvania this afternoon!

Moldova!!

Wow!! What an amazing place!! Staying at a super cool hostel! A really cool lady has her hostel listeв on hostels.com and im having a great time. Yesterday i went to Tiraspol, the capitol of Trranstanistria, a country that you wont finв much on a map. It is the eastern part of Moldova and has been split since the fall of the soviet union. Moldova switched back to the roman alphabet from cyrilic and back to the Romainian language from the russian language. Transtanistria stayed russian and has a highly guarded border and its own currency. There are men with AK 47 machine guns and tanks at the border and they check everyone and everthing very well for whatever it is that people might try to sneak across. I had to get a special permit to enter. As always, the people on the other side of the line are just people and live like people live. The borders and the government is always just this extra thing that doesnt seem to do anything!! If someone can tell me what the "state" is for, i would really love some explainations!!
Today im off to Romania!

Today was my second day in Kyiv and I love it here!! This is probably my second favorite city in europe!! Everything is so beautiful, the people, the architecture, the society!! I can even begin to explain!! I love it!! Everywhere has been great though!! I have had such an amazing time every single day in every single place!! I can't even thank enough people!! I realized i didn't mention my grandma and my aunt mary in my first post, only mentioning my parents and alice. My aunt and grandma have also been helping me travel out here and like always supported me with love and money!!!! Thanks!! And to the rest of you also!! I meet such cool people everywhere i go!! It is so amazing!! My old friends and new friends!!
Today I got my visa for Moldova, so im off, probably tomorrow night on the night train!! I'm super excited! Got a transit visa for my way to Romania! The guy at the embassy was really nice, as has been everyone here in Ukraine, and im sure everyone in Moldova is going to be great too!! People are so amazing!!

Message #2 Catching up on some history!

So, this has been a pretty exciting year for me!! I've been living in Amsterdam since the end of August 2003. Amsterdam is the most amazing place i have been so far!! I love it there!! I had such an incredible time and will spend much of my life in that city! If you have not been there, i highly suggest that you go and stay as long as possible. I have heard some people that dont like amsterdam because of all the tourists, but it is very easy to get away from the crouds and just chill.

In got to paris once in november or something, but it was in january when i started really traveling. My parents are absolutely incredible and have been supporting me over here this year, and dad let me go for a trip to scandinavia. Getting out of amsterdam really showed me how much more i had to learn about europe, and since then i have not been able to stop seeing new things. I have to give a huge things to my great aunt Alice for helping me with all my travel expenses and being such an inspiration to me. She has been all over the world and knows how great of an education traveling really hooked me up!!!

So, now it is the middle of May, almost 10 months since i got to europe, and I've seen a fairly ok representation of some european culture. Every single country i go to is so different that i have made the decision to visit as many as i can rather than stay for very long in one place (except amsterdam of course!!). This travel is also my research project, which i have discussed with several of my friends.

Im just going to list the countries for now:
Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, England, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Andora, France, Spain, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, and I'm now in Russia, country number 31 in europe, and i'll be in the Ukaine by the morning!!!

During my travels i have met so many cool people and seen so many cool things!! I could never have kept going if it weren't for my family and friends back home and all the amazing people i have met here in Europe!! I basically travel everywhere alone, but because of all of you, I'm never alone!

I am trying this communication medium because i am having a very difficult time keeping in touch with everyone! Email takes so long when trying to speak with a lot of people, so this might be a little better!

Im not sure if any of you have similar difficulties with keeping in touch with people, but it is a really terrible thing for me. Im always on the move, and only get a few minutes on line. I make a lot of friends and would like to keep in touch with you all, but it seems that i only get one message sent, just to get you added to my contacts list. By the time i have added my new contacts, and written a message to my parents, checked the news and my bank account, my time is usually up and i have to go!!

Many of you have written back to me, especially in the last few months, and have recieved nothing from me! For that i sincerely appologize! I will make sure to attempt to write each of you personally, but for the whats up kind of stuff, im making this sight.

On this sight, you should be able to add comments so possibly we can even skip the email process. The email is somewhat efficient, but it just takes so long to wait for the sign in, in-box, then into each new message, then reply, then confirm, then in-box, next message, read, reply, confirm, inbox, next message.....

So, hopefully this will work out nicely. Please don't let that stop any of you from e-mailing me though!!
